Grafton Lakes State Park recently partnered with the local snowmobile club, Grafton Trailblazers, to host a snowmobile ride. It was a beautiful Saturday morning, the sun was shining, and the wind was calm. The event was covered by News Channel 10, who did a story on the event. News of the event even reached some riders who traveled over an hour to enjoy the perfect conditions.
The ride consisted of three separate, volunteer-led groups riding from the park to Taborton and back for a half day, 65-mile trip. Groups stopped at a scenic outlook to admire the snow covered Taconic Mountains and later stopped for lunch. Total attendance was five club member leaders and 28 riders of all different skill levels. Many staff members also partook in the event.
The Trailblazers help maintain and groom the park’s extensive snowmobile trail system year-round. The Grafton team was excited for the opportunity to help promote their organization and encourage responsible riding practices for the public and look forward to continued growth of this partnership.
